Would you like to join us?

You can join the Drama Club at any time. There are many opportunities that come up throughout the year, either to work backstage or front of house or even to step in to a part if someone steps out as inevitably happens from time to time.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SET BUILDERS!!!  If you have carpentry skills and have some time to commit to building a set the two week leading up to a play, we want to hear from you.

AUDITIONS ARE TAKING PLACE NOW! for next season’s plays. If you want a part, do come along.

Tuesday 13th June – Fur Coat and No Knickers  written by Mike Harding and directed by Sarah Nolan

Thursday 15th June – Are You Being Served?  written by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft and directed by Therese Ball

Tuesday 20th June – Spider’s Web  written by Agatha Christie and directed by Jonathan Mallinson

Thursday 22nd June – Little Voice  written by Jim Cartwright and directed by Steven Derbyshire and Carolanne Connolly

New people are welcome. If you would like to join us and take part in a production this coming season, please do come along. All auditions start at 7.30 pm and are held in our rehearsal rooms at:

The Arts Centre
Thwaites Empire Theatre
Aqueduct Road
Ewood
Blackburn
Lancashire. BB2 4HT

We sometimes hold general open play readings. These are not auditions but allow us to get to know different plays, some with a view to producing and some just for fun. It is an opportunity for new people to meet some of our members and also to get used to reading plays and trying out different roles.

They also allow the Club to hear new people read. Anyone joining the Club should aim to come to at least one of these play readings. They are very informal and everyone who wishes to, gets a chance to read. Those who do not wish to read can just sit and listen. Of course, if you wish to act with us, we need to hear you read. tea and coffee are provided during the break.

Have you always had an urge to act, direct or work backstage? Maybe you have carpentry, sewing, front of house or tea making skills that you wish to put to good use? Or, perhaps, you just want to get involved in something new? If so, please do come along to our readings – we are a friendly lot, or let our Secretary, Anita Shaw, know on blackburndramclub@talktalk.net.
