ACT Spotlight Winners 2023

We are delighted to announce we had six winners at the ACT Spotlight Awards at the Cresta Court Hotel on 10th November as follows:

Ciarán Glass – ACT Debut Award – William Beech in Goodnight Mister Tom

James Newton – Most Accomplished Youth in an Adult Production – Zachariah in Goodnight Mister Tom

Paddy Darnell-Walsh – Most Original Character Portrayal (Actor) – Mooney in Hangmen

Heather Roberts – Most Original Character Portrayal (Actress) – Bertha/Inner Jane in Jane Eyre

Suzanne Nolan – ACT in Action Certificate (Puppetry) – Sam, the dog in Goodnight Mister Tom

Blackburn Drama Club – Overall Winners for The Season

Ciarán Glass – Best Youth Performance in an Adult Production for William Beech in Goodnight Mister Tom.

Joanne Shepherd – Best Staging for The Steamie

Suzanne Nolan – The Julie Hopkinson Award for Best Cameo for The Corpse in Loot & Sammy in Goodnight Mister Tom

“The Hound of the Baskervilles” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Adapted by Steven Canny & John Nicholson (Directed by Clive Stack) 17-20 November, 2021
“The Steamie” by Tony Roper (Directed by Joanne Shepherd) 9-12 March, 2022
“Dirty Dusting” by Ed Waugh & Trevor Wood (Directed by Claire St Pierre) 18-21 May, 2022
Play readings will take place in play order on the evenings of 8th, 10th, 15th & 17th June via Zoom.

The final episode in our Talking Faces Series is very special. Today marks Eric & Margaret Nolan’s 49th Wedding Anniversary. Having met at Blackburn Drama Club, they married the following year on 9th October 1971. Margaret was celebrating her 50th year as a member this year. Sadly, Margaret passed away last month and will be sadly missed by all at the BDC. This final episode is in memory of our beloved member Margaret Nolan.
